Kevin Love parents: Meet Stan Love and Karen Love

Kevin Love is a five-time All-Star, a two-time member of the All-NBA Second Team and won an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.

He also competed for the United States on the gold-medal winning national teams at the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Love was the NBA’s Most Improved Player in 2011 and finished first in the league in rebounding.

He grew up in Lake Oswego, Oregon, where he played Little League with future NBA player Klay Thompson and was boyhood friends with him. Love began playing basketball at a young age,

practising his bounce passes with a cardboard box and watching Wes Unseld tapes as a youngster. His father Stan, an ex-NBA big man who could shoot well, encouraged his son to hone his outside shooting and ballhandling abilities.

Love represented the Lake Oswego Lakers while playing high school basketball.

During his sophomore year, he led the Lakers to the 2005 state championship game, where they were defeated by Jesuit High School, averaging 25.3 points, 15.4 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

Nike cut him from their Portland Elite Legends AAU team the next summer after he decided to compete in the Reebok ABCD Camp against other elite prospects. He later joined the Southern California All-Stars, where he contributed to the team’s 46-0 record and won three MVP honours.
